Cashiers Showhouse & Tiny House – North Carolina

There’s something so special about the mountains of North Carolina—the slower pace, the timeless architecture, and the sense of comfort that seems to be woven into every home. That’s exactly what drew me to Cashiers, and why I’m so excited to share two projects that are especially close to my heart. This season, I’m honored to be a featured designer in the Cashiers Designer Showhouse while also bringing another dream to life: a cozy cottage-inspired tiny home nestled in the North Carolina mountains. Although these projects are completely different in scale, they share the same vision—creating warm, thoughtful spaces that feel inviting, intentional, and deeply connected to their surroundings. I can’t wait to take you behind the scenes of both and share the inspiration, progress, and details that make each one so special.

Each year, talented designers from the Cashiers-Highlands Plateau and across the Southeast transform the featured home with inspired interiors, creative details, and the latest design trends. From bold, statement-making spaces to timeless, elegant rooms, every corner offers fresh ideas and exceptional craftsmanship—making the Showhouse a must-see event for design enthusiasts and anyone looking for a little inspiration.

This year’s Showhouse runs from Friday, August 28, through Saturday, September 5. Every ticket purchased directly supports the Cashiers Historical Society and its mission to preserve the rich history, heritage, and culture of the Cashiers Valley.

I have been entrusted with designing the home’s Bonus Room, located just upstairs, where I will bring my signature blend of luxury, warmth, and thoughtfully curated design to life. Being selected for the Cashiers Designer Showhouse is a distinguished honor, showcasing some of the Southeast’s most talented interior designers while supporting the Cashiers Historical Society.

I am excited to unveil my vision for this exceptional space and contribute to one of the region’s premier design events.

I especially love that our room won’t scream “mountain cabin.” Instead, it will like a refined hideaway—almost as if a classic New York members’ club or London hotel lounge found its way into the Blue Ridge Mountains. That unexpected contrast is what makes it so memorable and luxurious.

One of the many reasons I love spending time in the North Carolina mountains is discovering the places that make this community so special. Every visit to Highlands reminds me why so many people return year after year—it’s filled with charming boutiques, breathtaking scenery, and incredible local restaurants that make you feel right at home.

One of my absolute favorites is Highlands Supper Club. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’re welcomed into a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly blends mountain charm with timeless elegance. Whether you’re enjoying handcrafted cocktails before dinner or gathering around the table with family and friends, it has a way of making every evening feel special. It’s the kind of place that embodies everything I love about Highlands—thoughtful hospitality, beautiful design, and a sense of comfort that keeps you coming back.

It’s restaurants like this, paired with the natural beauty of the mountains, that continue to inspire my work and make North Carolina feel like a true home away from home.

No mountain getaway is complete without a great cup of coffee, and if there’s one place I always look forward to visiting, it’s Outpost Inn Coffee. Tucked away in the heart of Highlands, this charming little cabin coffee shop feels like something straight out of a storybook. From the cozy wood interiors to the welcoming atmosphere, it’s the kind of place that instantly makes you want to slow down and savor the moment.

As someone who truly loves coffee, this has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Highlands. Whether I’m grabbing a latte before a day of working, meeting friends, or simply taking in the crisp mountain air from the porch, it’s always a highlight of my trip. If you’re planning a visit to Highlands, Outpost Inn Coffee is an absolute must-stop—it’s the perfect blend of mountain charm, cozy ambiance, and exceptional coffee.

One of my favorite ways to start an evening in Highlands is with a visit to Highlands Wine Shoppe. What makes it so unique is that all of their wines are served on tap, allowing you to sample a variety of different pours and discover new favorites in a fun, relaxed setting. Whether you’re a seasoned wine lover or simply looking to try something new, it’s such a memorable experience.

I especially love grabbing a glass and settling in by the fire before heading to one of my favorite restaurants in town, Ristorante Paoletti. It’s become one of my favorite little traditions whenever I’m in Highlands. Whether you’re planning a romantic date night or gathering with girlfriends for an evening out, this combination is hard to beat. The warm atmosphere, incredible wine selection, and unforgettable Italian cuisine make for the perfect mountain night, and I truly couldn’t recommend it more.

While the Cashiers Showhouse has given me the opportunity to collaborate with an incredible group of designers and showcase my work in one of North Carolina’s most cherished communities, my connection to these mountains extends far beyond this project. Over the past year, I’ve also been creating a place that’s deeply personal to me—a tiny mountain retreat that has quickly become a passion project of its own.

Nestled among the trees, this home is my vision of the perfect escape from Florida’s fast pace and year-round heat. It’s where cottage charm meets mountain serenity, designed with calming blues, natural textures, and timeless details that invite you to slow down and simply enjoy your surroundings. While one project allows me to design for others to experience, this tiny house is a reflection of what feels like home to me—a peaceful getaway where every detail is meant to inspire rest, comfort, and connection to nature.

While interior design has always been my profession, designing my own tiny house has been an incredibly rewarding experience in a completely different way. It’s given me the opportunity to create a space that reflects not only my design style but also the way I want to live, unwind, and make memories with the people I love. I already know this little home will become a place where countless weekends are spent exploring the mountains, gathering with family and friends, and simply enjoying a slower pace of life.

North Carolina offers such a refreshing contrast to Florida. While I’ll always love home, there’s something about the mountains that inspires me in a way that’s hard to put into words. The changing seasons, layered landscapes, charming architecture, and natural beauty constantly introduce me to new color palettes, textures, materials, and timeless design ideas that I can’t wait to bring into future projects. It’s become my creative reset—a place where inspiration seems to be around every corner.

This project also wouldn’t be possible without the incredible people who have helped bring this vision to life. I’m so grateful for my general contractor and everyone involved in making this little dream a reality. Their craftsmanship, dedication, and hard work have made the entire process so enjoyable, and I can’t wait to continue sharing the journey as we get closer to the finished product. Every visit reminds me just how special this place is, and I’m so excited for all of the memories still to come.
